Clown Companion Volunteer
ORGANIZATION: AseraCare Hospice an Amedisys company
Please visit the new page to apply.
Aseracare Hospice is seeking a trained clown to provide life affirming humor to patients and families. Humor helps people see more than just tragedy in stressful times. It gives us a break from the intensity of grief. While the silly clowns with brightly colored clothes and magic tricks make people smile, it takes something more to be a hospice clown. Hospice clowns need to have a compassionate spirit for patients and families and the ability to listen with a loving heart knowing that all of the hospice patients they visit are faced with life limiting-illnesses. Hospice clowns attempt to alleviate some of the painful feelings our patients and families have - if only for a few minutes.
Volunteers are provided free training, a training certificate, and can work flexible hours that suit their individual schedules. Volunteer training blends ancient wisdom with contemporary practices.
