Do you know how to play a game of chess? Are you a top scoring video game master? Do you golf like a pro? Can you ride your bike or go for hikes?
If you said yes to any or all of these questions, you could be a great volunteer mentor for an awesome young man! Male mentros are HIGHLY NEEDED to boys and young men on our volunteer youth mentoring waitlist!
Children’s Friend and Family Services seeks volunteer mentors ages 21 and older to be matched with one youth mentee from the Lawrence, North Andover and Andover Communities. You will have the consistent support of program staff. Your mentor responsibility includes meeting every week or every other week for at least two to four hours to establish a one-to-one relationship that over a year’s time matures into a genuine, caring friendship. Everyone has something to offer! Our mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and professions. Whether it’s taking a walk in the park, watching a movie, cooking or just talking on the phone -you’re making a real difference. If you are interested or would like to know more please contact Samantha Alves, Director of Youth Mentoring at salves@childrensfriend.net or call 978-219- 1528.

Mission Statement
To improve the lives of children and promote strong families by partnering with community organizations to provide services to strengthen individuals, families and community life."
Description
The Youth Mentoring Program is voluntary for both the mentor and mentee with parental permission mandatory for all children and youth. Mentors commit to the match for one year and meet with their mentees for at least two hours weekly, focusing on community-based activities that are basically just "fun", but also expand their horizons and support positive attitudes. The average length of the mentee/mentor match withing our organization is two years. On a monthly basis our program has "Match Night", on which we've had activities such as bowling, 'Name That Tune' Night, a beach picnic, Take A Kid Fishing Day, and a workshop with TD Banknorth about the importance and value of responsible banking and saving.
