The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) needs volunteers to help make cancer a top national priority.
ACS CAN is working to eliminate cancer by advocating for some of the following issues:
* Cancer research and innovation
* Cancer prevention and early detection programs
* Strengthening tobacco control policies
* Ensuring access to care
* Supporting quality of life and palliative care
* Promoting healthy eating and active living to prevent cancer

Description
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service. The Society maintains a 24/hour 365/day/year hotline to live, well trained volunteers. The hotline helps people confronting cancer, or their loved ones, find information, get referrals to local providers, and discover support programs to assist them
