Wildlife Shower

In addition to being a nature center, Hungerford Park is also a wildlife rehabilitation center. During the spring and summer months we become overloaded with injured and orphaned wildlife that are brought to the center for care. This year we have decided to specialize in birds and we are looking for rehab volunteers that have an interest in bird rehabilitation. We are looking for individuals to assist our rehabbers at the center who are willing to take the time to learn the techniques and procedures it takes to rehabilitate wildlife. Some tasks that rehab volunteers might assist with are:

- Feeding and watering of wildlife

- Cleaning of wildlife enclosures

- Intake of wildlife including phone calls and walk ins

- Release of wildlife

- Picking up wildlife from other locations

Wildlife rehabilitation is time consuming job that takes patience, care, and dedication. We are looking for individuals we can rely on to help with this job. Volunteers are needed for everyday of the week including weekends. Hours and shifts will be determined once started. We are willing to work with different schedules and time frames. If you are interested, click on the link below to apply and we will get back to you as soon as possible!

Volunteers will be trained in all different tasks that they will assist with. Also if any volunteers would like to be become certified in the state of CT to rehabilitate wildlife, the hours needed can be done at the center. We will also show you the process and the steps that are needed to get this certification. Thank you for considering volunteering with us!

If you would like to know more information about rehabbing before volunteering, the center is holding a wildlife baby shower on Sunday, May 21st at 2pm. Come learn about the wildlife we take in every year and what it takes to do wildlife rehabilitation.
