Call for Male Volunteer Mentors for New Program in East Garfield Park

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Marillac St. Vincent Family Services

  • 1 person is interested

In September of 2016, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced a massive new mentoring initiative to serve at-risk youth from all over the city. In phases 1 and 2 of this project, the city worked with schools to establish the program and now the project is moving into phase 3, with an expansion to community organizations. Marillac St. Vincent and our friends and partners at Breakthrough Ministries are leading the way in East Garfield Park, having been awarded grant money to support project activities, supplies, and cover other operational expenses.

Our program will have the capacity for up to 40 8 th-10 th grade boys at our west side location, Marillac Social Center. To make this new initiative a success, Marillac St. Vincent needs to recruit a minimum of 25 dedicated male volunteers who are 21 or older and who can commit to bi-monthly one-on-one and group mentoring for these young men.

Men interested in volunteering as mentors can also join us for a pizza and basketball information session and program kickoff party on April 27 from 6-8 PM at the Foglia Family and Youth Center, 2859 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60612.

For those interested in volunteering as mentors, sign up using the volunteer form on the website, marillacstvincent.org/volunteer. This program is starting very soon so sign up today!
