The Guilford County Pet Responsibility Program is a humane education program for fourth graders. Our volunteers visit classes to talk with students about the basic needs of animals, the importance of having pets spayed or neutered in order to prevent pet overpopulation, health and safety issues, the cost of caring for a pet for its entire life, and being an advocate for animals.
We present a series of six fun and well planned 40-minute lessons to our classes. Our schedule varies depending on the needs of each school we work with, but if you have 40 minutes available per week during the school day, we'd love to have you work with us!
The Guilford County Pet Responsibility Program is part of Juliet's House Animal Rescue, juliet'shouse.org

Mission Statement
Our mission is to help animals across North Carolina.
Description
Juliet's House Animal Rescue volunteers help save homeless animals across North Carolina. We have no facility, but operate the cat adoption rooms at two local PetSmart Pet Stores and a Petco Store. Additionally, we have weekly adoption fairs at which our adoptable dogs are present. Apart from our adoption partnerships with Petsmart and Petco, the majority of our rescued cats and dogs are cared for within a network of foster families.
Juliet's House is always looking for volunteers to help at events, foster, and care for our pets at adoption centers.
Juliet’s House Animal Rescue includes The Guilford County Pet Responsibility Program as part of its educational outreach. This program is presented by volunteers as part of participating schools’ Character Education Programs, and includes a total of six weekly lessons for 4th grade students.
Pet Responsibility students learn about the basic needs of animals, the importance of having pets spayed or neutered to prevent pet overpopulation, and how to keep pets healthy and safe. Students are also encouraged to think about empathy and the importance of standing up for others. Guest speakers and visits from insured therapy dogs enhance the learning experience.
The Pet Responsibility Program needs more volunteers to help teach classes! You don’t have to have any prior teaching experience to volunteer, and the program only requires a time commitment of 40 minutes once a week.
