Apartment Complex Wanted for Food Waste Drop-off (Broadmoor)

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Global Green USA

Do you want to help your apartment complex prevent food waste?

Global Green, in partnership with Compost Now, is seeking to work with volunteers who live in apartment buildings to divert food waste.

Compost Now is offering food scrap drop-off at the Rosa Keller Library at 4300 Broad Street on Saturdays from 10:30 am to noon, at the outside rear entrance by the deck. So far, this program has collected over 2,000 pounds of food waste from local residents. Following drop off, the waste is picked up my Schmelly’s Dirt Farm and turned into nutrient-rich compost!

We're interested in working with volunteers to help spread the word to:

a) recruit more participants to drop-off food waste as a part of the Saturday program.

b) explore outreach strategies to get neighbors involved.

c) work with us to see if food waste drop-off programs can get more apartment complex residents engaged, or if on-site composting will work in areas with sufficient space

Global Green will also provide education materials and flyers on food waste reduction.
