Housing Catalyst’s Redtail Ponds development is a mixed-income community with 40 units for formerly homeless individuals and 20 units for individuals earning up to 50% of the Area Median Income. Each independent apartment features a full kitchen and bathroom. Supportive services include case management, life skills coaching, and/or therapeutic services to empower and equip residents with the skills needed to live with greater self-determination and independence.

Title: Front Desk Support Position

Need: Redtail Ponds has one entrance/exit that is monitored by the front desk. The front desk staff consistently provides excellent customer service to all residents and serves to support the residents to connect with services and respond to all emergencies that arise.

Deliverables: Responsible for maintaining point of entry function as part of a team; Maintains the safety and securing of the property by ensuring policies are adhered to; Supports, interacts and communicates with a resident population who may have special needs including mental or physical disabilities and/or substance abuse issues.

Key Responsibilities and Work Environment:

  • Enforces building rules and regulations, monitor building’s security cameras and alarms, and maintains the harmony of the residents and their guests.
  • Must strictly adhere to professional boundaries and confidentiality agreements with residents and other professionals.
  • Answer and respond to general concerns and questions, disturbances on site, noise or unauthorized guests or other issues impacting residents or the community and report infractions and concerns to proper staff.
  • Maintains regular and prompt attendance for assigned shift.
  • Respond to all emergencies that arise such as fire, medical or any other situation that would constitute an emergency according to Procedure Manuel; including negative resident interactions. A list of phone numbers and procedures will be provided for emergencies.
  • Must be able to take charge and direct others in emergencies as they arise.
  • Work to ensure resident and community safety, maintain security logs and/or visitor check in/out logs as needed.
  • Ensure Services Coordinator and other appropriate staff is kept informed of resident behavior. Compile accurate and appropriate information on resident behavior.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties for the interior and exterior of the building, building common areas, offices and restrooms as needed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the location of the breakers, shut off valves, location of fire equipment, extinguishers and other items particular to development.
  • Attend any court appearance necessary to provide professional testimony. Acts as contact for law enforcement agents, obtaining case numbers of incidents occurring on site.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support for team. Organize and maintain a variety of files, logs and records; enter a variety of data into computer systems.
  • Actively participate in team meetings as required.
  • Successfully complete professional development opportunities as required and as available.

Qualifications:

To perform this volunteer position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Education and/or Experience - High School diploma or GED, Associates or Bachelors’ degree preferred or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills - Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bi-lingual Spanish language skills highly desirable.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability - Must show good judgment and common sense, follow directions and directives from supervisors, and follow company policies and guidelines.
  • Professional Boundaries- Proven ability to create and sustain positive resident relations while maintaining professional boundaries. Adherence to confidentiality among residents and professionals.
  • Professionalism- Must have a professional appearance and attitude, and be able to interact with the public. Must possess excellent verbal communication skills, exceptional phone etiquette and superior customer service.

Training and Support: Redtail Ponds staff and Volunteer Program Coordinator will work closely with service provider to provide volunteers with training regarding policies and procedures for Permanent Supportive Housing and Harm Reduction Models, client population and appropriate volunteer-resident interaction.

Time Commitment: Flexible hours, minimum of two hours per week. Requesting 9 month minimum commitment.
