ORGANIZATION: Housing Catalsyt

Housing Catalyst’s Redtail Ponds development is a mixed-income community with 40 units for formerly homeless individuals and 20 units for individuals earning up to 50% of the Area Median Income. Each independent apartment features a full kitchen and bathroom. Supportive services include case management, life skills coaching, and/or therapeutic services to empower and equip residents with the skills needed to live with greater self-determination and independence.

Title: Bicycle Repair Specialist

Need: Bicycle Repair Specialist to repair bicycles for residents and/or assist residents at Redtail Ponds with repair of their own bicycles.

Deliverables: The volunteer will collaborate with Redtail Ponds staff and Volunteer Coordinator to provide basic bicycle repair and maintenance for resident’s bikes and may be asked to teach residents about repairing/maintaining their own bicycles if the resident shows an interest in learning basic bicycle repair and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities and Work Environment: Key responsibilities include basic repair and maintenance of resident’s bicycles and can include instructing and assisting residents in repair and maintenance of their own bikes.

Qualifications: The volunteer must have experience and be familiar with bicycle repair and maintenance and will provide their own tools for all aspects of bicycle repair. The candidate must have good communication and listening skills, an outgoing personality and willingness to work alongside residents and to provide basic instruction to those who wish to learn repair and maintenance of their own bikes.

Training and Support: Redtail Ponds staff and Volunteer Program Coordinator will work closely with service provider to provide them with training regarding policies and procedures for Permanent Supportive Housing and Harm Reduction Models, client population and appropriate volunteer-resident interaction.

Time Commitment: Once a week for 2 hours (flexible).
