Purpose
Recently an adult exercise group has started at the Greenleaf Recreation Center on Tuesday evenings, from 5:30-6:30 pm. There are several residents who would like to improve their physical health and socialize, who initiated this together. We would like to make this into a more structured, and sustainable activity, and get more residents involved.
We are looking for a volunteer to lead the class. Some activities you could lead are: Zumba, yoga, walking, and other types of light/moderate exercise etc. You will get to make a difference in helping residents reach their health goals, and build community!
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate a weekly light exercise class for Portsmouth Housing Authority adult residents.
- Encourage residents to participate in the activity.
- Be responsive to different ability levels & interests.
- Maintain cleanliness of indoor spaces at the recreation center.

- Able to facilitate an exercise activity
- Comfortable working with a diverse population
- Commitment to the safety of residents
- Friendly, compassionate, patient & trustworthy

Length of Assignment & Time Commitment
Ideally we would like a weekly commitment for a minimum of two months. However we are flexible and open to various time commitments, including monthly volunteering. Contact us to see how you can help.

Description
The Authority provides both family and elderly housing, area-wide Section 8 housing, and a youth and family services program.
Persons whose incomes fall at or below 80% of median income can apply for assisted housing by picking up an application at the Central Office of the PHA located at 245 Middle Street, Portsmouth, New Hampshire 03801 or if you are disabled and cannot make it into the office you may call (603) 436-4310 and you will be mailed a copy of the application. You can also access an application on this web site, download it, and send a copy to the office.
