The Utah Arts Festival is an outdoor, multi-disciplinary event in downtown Salt Lake City. The Festival
represents excellence in a range of artistic mediums, promotes an appreciation for fine art, encourages
innovation in the arts, and supports non-traditional, contemporary works. The event takes place over a
period of four days at the end of June and sees approximately 80,000 visitors each year.
The Art Yard at the Utah Arts Festival is a creative space designed just for kids! The Art Yard offers
exciting themed installations that kids can add to, a musical instrument petting zoo, film screenings, and
make-and-take art projects from local nonprofits like UMOCA. Volunteers like you play a vital and valuable role in making UMOCA’s activity booth in the Art Yard a wonderful experience for all kids and families.
Some basic responsibilities are:
- Welcome families into our booth.
- Hand out and monitor materials.
- Assist kids with the activity and encourage their creativity.
- Clean up tabletops and scraps that fall on the ground as needed.
- Hand out printed information about UMOCA’s exhibitions and programs.
