Bereavement & Support Volunteer-Bereavement & Support Hospice Volunteer: These volunteers specifically provide bereavement support to family members at the time of death and for 13 months after death. Volunteers assist with grief counseling/support, send out regular mailings and monthly phone calls to grieving families which contain practical and educational material about the grief process and suggestion for coping during the time of adjustment, co-facilitate ongoing support groups which are designed for those experiencing grief, coordinate special programs to help families prepare for and deal with difficult holiday season while experiencing grief and assist in creating and maintaining a substantial library consisting of books, videos and other resource information on a wide variety of topics relating to terminal illness, grief and loss. Volunteer expands and maintains community resources list as needed. Volunteer can function independently yet supervised by Bereavement Coordinator.

Patient/Family Companion- These volunteers visit patients where they reside and provide emotional, spiritual, psychological support to patients and their family members. These volunteers sit with them, read to them, spend quality time and offer assistance where needed.

Special Projects/Groups- These volunteers help to assist with things that may be needed to provide comfort to patients and families. We are always in need of afgans, prayer blankets, deceased patients clothing that can turned into pillows and keepsakes. Groups can do 1 time projects of cleaning yard, mowing the grass, washing cars, preparing dinner for family etc.
