Evelyn's Wildlife Refuge

Evelyn's Wildlife Refuge is a nonprofit organization that takes in sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife to rehabilitate with the intent to release back into the wild. Volunteers are vital to our mission by helping us with the property upkeep so we can keep our focus on the 600+ animals we take in a year.

Unfortunately the volunteer opportunities are not working with or around the animals. Because they are wildlife animals we limit their human contact to prevent habituation so they can be released back into the wild as well as the Virginia's laws prohibit us from having volunteers working around the animals unless properly licensed. The list I have posted below would be the extent of what we can legally use volunteers for.

Maybe you need to earn community service hours for school, a club, or an activities program? Maybe you have been court-ordered or you wish to show volunteer hours prior to going to a court hearing. We can accommodate you!

Here are some examples of ways you can earn your hours at the refuge

Raking yard (gumballs & pinecones)

Weed whacking

Mowing property

Trimming bushes

Flower beds upkeep

Memorial Garden upkeep

Etc.
