Patient and Family Support Volunteers provide support to hospice patients and their family members. Volunteers provide companionship, caring presence, and assistance with errands in the patient's home, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and in the Blue Ridge Hospice In-Patient Care Center. Volunteers also provide respite relief for caregivers allowing them much needed time to rest, take a break, or run errands. Massage Therapy, Pet Therapy, Companionship through Music, and Reiki are a few additional roles in which volunteers serve. For those whose time is limited, we also offer a Companionship Call Program in which volunteers provide support through phone calls and conversation. Completion of the Blue Ridge Hospice Training Program is required for all of these patient-related volunteer roles. This is a rewarding volunteer experience through which you will make a direct, positive impact on the life of of a Hospice patient in your community.
