There is currently one half-time position within the Volunteer Services Department in the Albany, NY office of the American Red Cross. The AmeriCorps Member will be assisting with the recruitment, interviewing and placement of volunteers. Members will have opportunities for further development in Volunteer Administration and Management and an opportunity to engage in disaster response/relief activities or other experiences as a way to develop the proficiency needed to effectively recruit for new volunteers.

We are looking for someone who can commit to 15-20 hours a week and is/has:

• Strong communication and public speaking skills
• Excellent telephone etiquette and presence
• Comfortable performing interviews with prospective volunteers
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Comfortable working with people, processes and data
• Willing to participate in disaster-related activities as a way to gain the experience necessary to help new/existing volunteers
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with a strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independenty or within a team
• Willing to work a flexible schedule, inclduing some evenings and weekends
