Volunteer with Behind the Book (www.behindthebook.org), a non-profit literacy organization that inspires New York City public school students to love reading. Through our innovative programs, accomplished authors lead workshops in high-needs classrooms, where they guide students in creating their own writing and art projects based on the theme of the author's book.
No experience or training is necessary to work with pre-K-12 students. As a writing, research or art coach, you'll engage and encourage their progress on a project.
This workshop needs your support at an elementary school in Crown Heights. To volunteer, please reply with the program code to volunteer@behindthebook.org:

You may also volunteer on Tuesday, May 16th, 9:00 - 11:45 AM, as a field trip chaperone aaccompanying students on a field trip to Prospect Park Zoo, where they’ll choose the animal they want to research.
