The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Drivers provide transportation to refugee clients to transport them to appointments at local schools, businesses, and government offices. They work closely with case management staff and are used on an on-call basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to calls from case managers during hours of availability
  • Transport clients to appointments as required
  • Ensure that clients are dropped off and picked up in a timely fashion
  • Minimum commitment: At least 2 hrs of weekly availability for six months.

Description

At work in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home. The IRC's local offices in Turlock and Modesto operate several highly effective programs to meet a wide variety of refugee newcomers' needs. Our offices ensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing, and we work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency through English language classes, job readiness training and civics services. This year, the IRC in Turlock will resettle refugees from Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and Syria among other countries.
