Are you looking for a way to make a difference in someone’s life? Become a friend to a lonely or socially isolated senior in your Pierce County community. The Senior Friends program connects elders who are lonely and isolated with volunteers who visit on a regular basis. Senior friends are just that - friends. Besides conversation, friends may play games, share stories or photos, work on hobbies together, go out for a cup of coffee or walk in the park. Volunteers are not caregivers but may assist in simple chores or provide local transportation to appointments or errands if willing they wish. LCSNW provides training, placement and on-going support. We ask that volunteers commit to a minimum of 4 hours/month for a year. Applicants are at least 18 years of age and must pass a background check. Senior Friends is a program of Lutheran Community Services Northwest, a social service agency with more than 75 years of service to the Pacific Northwest.
