Thanks for you interest in supporting us for Housing Works Bookstore Cafe's annual Open Air Street Fair! The Open Air Street Fair is our daylong block party and shopping bazaar along Crosby Street, between Houston and Prince. This year's event is scheduled for Sunday, June 11th.
Featuring thousands of donated books, records, and CDs for $1 each; live music presented by Two Boots Americana Jamboree; food specials from our Bookstore Cafe, and unique finds from our Soho Thrift Shop. This event is a can’t-miss start to the summer, and all to support a great cause. This is sure to be a great event and we look forward to sharing the experience with you!
We currently have four shift openings:
Event Set-Up Team: 7:00 am-10:00 am
This opportunity is great for early risers! Volunteers will be helping us set-up the tables, arranging books, and moving the first batch of books to the tents before customers arrive.
Morning Team: 9:30 am to 1:30 pm This is a customer-facing opportunity, where you will be helping shoppers as well as restocking books.
Afternoon Team: 1:00 pm-5:00 pm This is a customer-facing opportunity, where you will be helping shoppers as well as restocking books.
Event Break-Down Team: 4:00 pm-7:00 pm This group of volunteers help us clean up following the Street Fair, including packing up books and some additional light cleaning.

About Housing Works
Location:

Mission Statement
Housing Works is a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV & AIDS. Our goal is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain our efforts.
Description
Housing Works is powered by a vibrant community of volunteers who lend their time, dedication, and passion to many different roles within our social enterprise department, Bookstore Cafe, and Thrift Shops.
Individuals and groups of volunteers assist our organization greatly, by coming together to better the communities that they live and work in. Housing Works is pleased to partner with corporations, universities, and community based groups, in the creation and implementation of volunteer projects that benefit homeless men and women living with HIV & AIDS. We are one of New York City’s largest and most successful support services for those in these under served communities, and becoming a part of the Housing Work’s family is an exciting way for companies to give back.
Each project challenges volunteers to develop new skills and engage new people, contributing to a greater sense of camaraderie. We welcome the opportunity to work with corporations to find volunteer opportunities that meet their needs and priorities. Volunteering with Housing Works is a great way for companies to engage employees while demonstrating their commitment to the fight against homelessness and AIDS, and the improvement of the lives of all at-risk New Yorkers.
