The Multilingual & Multicultural Center at Portland Public Schools has a volunteer opportunity for the annual I Made It Happen! graduation celebration event on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 5:15pm to 6:30pm and from 8-9pm that evening at the University of Southern Maine's Hannaford Hall. MLMC is in need of people for the following tasks: greeting guests, managing a check-in table, designating seating and other set-up help, distributing headphones to families in need of interpretation, and packing up the event at the end of the night (manually breaking down). Can't commit to the entire time? No problem! We can schedule you in shifts. Submit an application at mlc.portlandschools.org/volunteer.

Description

Portland Public Schools' Multilingual & Multicultural Center provides support for multilingual students and families through registration assistance for new students, language access for families who need translation and interpretation services, parent orientation sessions for new arrivals to the United States, parent workshop sessions, Parent University, and Make It Happen! - a college readiness program for multilingual students.
