Have you or a loved one been affected by the disease of Addiction? Are you aware of the opioid epidemic that is threatening every neighborhood in our community? Do you wonder what you can do to aid in this fight to eliminate stigma about addiction and provide prevention initiatives to our youth? If you answered YES to any of these questions, then we have a role for you at the Lakes Area Community Coalition. We are looking for a secretary for our organization as well as individuals who just want to get involved in our coalition. If you are available to attend our monthly Board meetings (at Moonlight Cafe in Walled Lake) on the 4th Monday of each month, please consider joining us as our Secretary. Here is a summary of what we need:
Serve as a member of the Executive Committee.
Conduct Coalition correspondence as approved by Executive Committee.
Record and distribute minutes of all meetings.
Maintain an up-to-date directory of Coalition members.
Maintain permanent file of meetings and records to turn over to the next secretary.
- Prepare the annual Coalition report, in cooperation with the President.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Lakes Area Community Coalition is to prevent drug and alcohol use among our youth by promoting healthy activities that reduce risk factors and increase protective factors.
Description
The Lakes Area Community Coalition is a non-profit organization with the following purposes:
Involve youth in aspects of goal setting, planning strategies, and implementation of activities.
To serve the community by promoting awareness, support, and opportunities aimed at reducing high-risk behaviors including alcohol, tobacco and other drug use so our youth may grow to their greatest potential.
To foster the coordination of existing community resources in effectively addressing the problem.
To collaborate with other community organizations to fill these gaps in the community’s alcohol and drug abuse prevention efforts, as available.
To provide advice, advocacy, coordination, information, research and evaluation, technical support, and training as needed to accomplish these objectives.
To secure funding through grants, contributions, and/or fundraisers to enable the Coalition to achieve its goals.CAUSE AREAS
