Boulder Valley ICO is an outreach program of the Sierra Club that provides free nature outings and wilderness adventures to children from low-income families. As an integrated part of the programming, we offer three "academies" that teach an outdoor-focused skill or hobby that youth can continue even after their time with our program has ended. The goals of our academies are to create an ongoing connection between child and the outdoors and to encourage youth to participate in an array of different outings types, moving gradually from single-day outings to camping to backpacking trips.

One of our academies focuses on nature art and journaling. We have already procured art and journaling materials, and we have a well-developed core curriculum. We are now looking for a volunteer to help us deploy this curriculum on outings, both by teaching the curriculum (as it is or with recommended revisions) and by coordinating with other volunteers in our program who would assist in teaching the curriculum on our outings.

If you love nature and you love art, this is a great way to combine both passions for the benefit of children and nature.
