3.5 million Americans are on the autism spectrum and only about 15% of this number ever find any type of employment- and even less find meaningful work that utilizes their skills and interests.

At Jazz Hands For Autism, we are creating pathways to consistent and sustainable employment that is tailored to the interests, skills and passions of adults on the autsim spectrum.

We are looking for new board members to provide oversight, fundraising, guidance, and new ideas to the current board. We meet bi-monthly and expect around a 4-hour commitment per month beyond the board meeting. We're looking for experienced board members, as our organization is new and could use the guidance that experience brings.

Ideal candidates for our board should have previous board service and fundraising experience in addition to a passion for music and autism.

Mission

Jazz Hands For Autism is creating pathways to expression and consistent employment for musicians on the autism spectrum.

About Us

We approach our mission through our two programs: the Jazz Hands Concert Series and the Jazz Hands Musician's Academy

Through our Jazz Hands Concert Series, we offer stage and a supportive audience that encourages confidence and socialization in our musicians.

Through our Jazz Hands Musician's Academy we offer musician-focused vocational training, job development and integrated job placement for musicians on the autism spectrum who are over 18.

In our 3 year tenure, Jazz hands For Autism has worked with over 20 musicians on the autism spectrum and has secured over 40 gigs for these musicians and 90% of these gigs have been paid. Notable gigs have been performing for former mayor of Los Angeles, Dick Riordan, and performign at the SPecial Olynmpics World Games.

Jazz Hands For Autism was awarded a Certificate of Regonition by California State Assembly, Assemblyman Mike Gatto, 43rd District.

A parent of a Jazz Hands Musician Says "[Jazz Hands For Autism has] provided a platform for him to express what comes naturally to him. It’s in his wheelhouse. What a wonderful gift it’s been that there’s one area in his life where he feels really confident. And he’s able to express that in a way that seems natural to him. He feels good about himself. He feels successful. As a parent, that’s what we all want for our children."
