Mission Statement
Fairbanks Resource Agency is dedicated to assuring that Interior Alaskans with disabilities and their families have equal opportunity to be fully integrated into the community where education, employment, housing, recreation and family support services are available in the same places, at the same times and with the same respect afforded any member of the community.
Description
More than just a running race, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner "Midnight Sun Run" is a uniquely Alaskan event that attracts participants from all over the country.
The 10K popular community race has been overseen by the Midnight Sun Run nonprofit organization for over 30 years, with the Fairbanks Daily News Miner as the title sponsor. Proceeds from the race benefit the Fairbanks Resource Agency ( fra-alaska.org) who is currently producing the event, and four $2500 scholarships are awarded to local student athletes.
The Midnight Sun Run relies on hundreds of volunteers from across the community, and volunteers are most welcome. Visit https://midnightsunrun.net/volunteer/ to become a volunteer.
The Midnight Sun Run attracts over 3,500 participants, from the elite runners who are aiming to break the finish line ribbon to back of the pack strollers simply out to have a good time.
Proceeds from the race benefit Fairbanks Resource Agency (FRA) programs for children and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, as well as seniors with Alzheimer's and related dementia. Visit fra-Alaska.org for more information about their supported services.
