We would love to have you join us as a Books For A Better World Literacy Ambassador this summer as you deliver children's books to children and teachers in El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, or Nicaragua. We are looking for positive and energetic people who speak Spanish, love adventure, and adore reading to children.
Dates are flexible and depend on the volunteers, but we usually travel during July or August. You will travel with a group of 2-5 volunteers, including an experienced leader, staying in a hostel or with a host family.
Check out our website for more information: www.booksforabetterworld.org including a look into a typical day during a Books For A Better World trip: http://www.booksforabetterworld.org/volunteer/day-in-the-life

Mission Statement
Literacy is the dedicated purpose of Books for a Better World. We seek to inspire, empower, and motivate children to achieve their full potential by helping them to develop a lifelong love of learning.
Description
Literacy is the dedicated purpose of Books for a Better World. It seeks to enfranchise, to empower and to motivate children in developing nations by establishing libraries and scholarship programs.
Books for a Better World was established to help break the cycle of illiteracy that cripples developing nations. Often, there are no books and the school day is dull and unstimulating. There is little reason to attend school thus the children drop out and illiteracy continues. Most children have never seen a book that is not a schoolbook and there is little connection between learning the vowels, learning to sound out words and reading a story. Children's literature increases a children's ability to imagine, to think analytically and to experience the world with greater compassion. The ability to read is empowering.
In 2018, BBW provided collections of books to over 100 rural locations troughout Central America. The libraries are in schools, orphanages, small municipal libraries or cultural centers. The books, all in Spanish, are storybooks, funny stories, adventures, legends, myths, biographies, natural science books and novels.CAUSE AREAS
