Join Echelon SF for an evening of volunteering! We are teaming up with staff at The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center to distribute food, hygiene kits, and blankets to our homeless community. You are welcome to sign up for Wednesday May 17th from 7:00pm - 8:30 pm (please arrive at 6:30pm for a brief orientation). If you are interested in volunteering, please e-mail Bree Reynolds, Service Chair at echelonsanfrancisco@gmail.com Volunteers will meet in front of the Harbor Light Center and will be transported by The Salvation Army staff members to a nearby area of the City to distribute items to those in need. Making a Difference: Every Wednesday & Friday evening, volunteers help staff at the Harbor Light Center distribute sandwiches to homeless individuals in the South of Market, Civic Center, and Tenderloin neighborhoods, along with items such as clothing, blankets, and personal hygiene kits. Beyond providing food, clothing and toiletries, volunteers and staff are providing comfort, companionship, and, most importantly, connecting the homeless population to a multitude of community services. Homeless Outreach staff works to connect people with services such as the Harbor Light Center's detox and rehabilitation programs, food pantries, medical care facilities, shelters, and transitional housing.
