What is Project Money?
Project Money is a high-impact, evidence-based financial development program that combines financial education, financial coaching, and peer-learning to empower individuals to accomplish specific financial goals meant to help them move from financial uncertainty to financial security.
What will I do?
Upon completion of two 6-hour training sessions, each Financial Coach will be paired with an individual member of the Project Money program. Members and coaches will meet for a total of six hour-long sessions, to work on setting and achieving well-defined financial goals.
As a Financial Coach, you will help a member:
*identify short and long-term financial goals
*identify obstacles to financial goals and strategies to overcome them
*provide tools and resources to help them achieve their goals efficiently and effectively
What skills do I need?
We are looking for volunteers who demonstrate empathy, an understanding of the financial challenges facing low-to-moderate income adults, the ability to motivate others, and a willingness to learn how to coach people on goals relate to building savings, reducing debt, managing daily expenses, and/or improving credit.
What is the time commitment?
We ask our Financial Coaches to make a commitment to one coaching group; the group includes a required two-day training, six coaching sessions, and a completion event. Coaches will volunteer a total of 21 hours per cycle, including training. Coaches are encouraged to continue their participation in future cycles.
