ORGANIZATION: San Francisco Village

SF Village Volunteer helps a member
San Francisco Village student volunteer assist a member with grocery shopping.

Arrange a Day of Service with your friends, co-workers or family members. SF Village staff will help you coordinate a Day of Service where your group can volunteer to help members cross a few things off of their pesky to-do lists. You'll help with chores like flipping mattresses, climbing ladders to change light bulbs, pruning gardens, dusting bookshelves, doing laundry and providing basic technology training. This is a great opportunity to help someone in need while meeting new people.

The activities take place at each member's home. Each group will break up into groups of 4 to 6 and work two hours at each home in different neighborhoods within San Francisco.

Location:

Mission Statement

We operationalize love for elders in an ageist society by mobilizing the power of intergenerational relationships and mutual support.

Description

What is the San Francisco Village?

San Francisco Village is a nonprofit membership organization that connects older San Franciscans to the community, resources and expertise they need to live independently in the places they call home. Today, our community includes 450 members over the age of 60, more than 200 multi-generational volunteers, a staff of six, a 12-member board of directors and hundreds of donors, supporters, workshop leaders and partners. We’ve come together to optimize health and well-being for everyone involved.

VISION

We envision a future in which people of all ages, races, cultures, and abilities work together to create communities of belonging and in so doing, model possibilities for relationship and connection that benefit the greater good.
