Angel Step Inn Shelter

  1. Answering 24-Hour Crisis Hotline
  2. Supporting victims of domestic violence at court, the hospital, and other appointments
  3. Providing office support (filing, translation of forms and other materials, general office assistance)
  4. Assisting in the Children's Program by reading to a group, tutoring, offering homework assistance, making crafts, and other activities
  5. Preparing outreach material
  6. Requesting wish list items from potential donors
  7. Creating an itemized list of donations/Organizing donations
  8. Must be able to complete a Domestic Violenece 40 hours training course, during the time of Volunteer/Internship. ** Once finished each participant will receive a Certificate.**
* It is highly desirable for volunteers to be flexible; working part time at Shelter & Corporate office. It makes the volunteer experience richer by providing volunteers to work in a variety of settings and applying different skills accordingly depending on the audience.

Angel Step Up is a specific program under Southern California Alcohol & Drug Programs, Inc. for LGBTQ individuals affected by intimate partner violence. The primary focus is to provide victim advocacy by responding to the emotional and physical needs of the participant, using a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive approach.

Our goal is to break the barriers the LGBTQ community faces. We accomplish this by working together with the community, and outside resources by offering assistance with the following services and linkages:

- Criminal Justice Support & Advocacy
- Legal Aid
- Emergency Assistance
- Vocational Rehabilitation
- Referrals
- Victim's Compensation Assistance
