At Brookdale Hospice we understand that volunteers are important for end of life care. Our volunteers make connections with terminally ill patients who need a hand to hold and a heart to listen.

Many times patients are looking to tell their life story, take a walk on a beautiful day, have a volunteer read to them or give a hand massage.

Hospice volunteers are treated as a part of the care team and are many times involved with creating patient visit plans. Volunteers have a special relationship with the patients because they are a 3rd party, that is they are not linked to the patients family or medical staff. Volunteers give laughter, friendship, entertainment, and pet companionship helping patients spend their last days in comfort. Most volunteers spend an hour or longer visiting patients and schedule their visits when its best for them.

We are currently looking for volunteers to visit patients in Eden Prairie.
