Relliable volunteers urgently needed to care for the cats at our Adoption Center located within Petco in Santa Fe.

Several mornings and evenings available. Minimum time commitment 2 hours.

Between 8:30am and 10:30am
Between 5:30pm and 8:30pm

Since the health and safety of the cats depends on the volunteers, you must be able to commit to an ongoing schedule, pay attention to detail, and follow detailed care instructions. In addition, you should be willing to learn about the organization and act as ambassador when members of the public visit the Adoption Center. To promote kind and humane treatment of all animals. To promote understanding of ownership and care of animals. To promote early spay/neuter of all animals in an effort to reduce the number of unwanted animals euthanized in shelters. To educate the public as to the health and safety benefits of early spay/neuter. To provide low/no cost spay/neuter of cats and dogs. To facilitate Trap/Neuter/Release projects where members of the community are feeding stray animals. To promote the concept that each individual can make a difference.

Description

FELINES & FRIENDS was formed in mid 2002. has since helped save the lives of over 4,000 animals who have been placed into loving new homes. Working in conjunction with the Santa Fe Animal and Espanola Shelters, as well as area vets and individual rescuers, FELINES & FRIENDS provides an alternative for "special needs" and hard to place cats.

We accept cats of all ages. However, admission to our adoption program is limited to the number of available foster homes and there are times when we simply are not able to answer every call for help.

FELINES & FRIENDS never euthanizes an cat due to lack of space or because it has been with us "too long", nor do we transfer any animal to another shelter or organization where it is at risk. We believe that eventually, every animal will find a loving home. However, from time to time we do have to make the difficult decision to release a cat from pain or an incurable condition. We believe in the importance of "quality of life".

FELINES & FRIENDS recently acquired Santa Fe Cats boarding hotel which provides additional housing when we don't have enough "foster homes" to house cats until they are placed. The group is always in need of people willing to share their home with a temporary feline. If you are interested in being a foster parent, please contact us immediately... we can never have too many.
