Mint Artists tent
Mint Artists sell their work at the Palmer Park Art Fair.

Mint Artists is a new nonprofit organization - we received our 501c3 in May 2016. We help creative teens understand basic business, career and life skills and give them opportunities to show and sell their work. We also have a tiny summer jobs program that allowed us to donate 19 paintings to Detroit nonprofit organizations.

Now we are starting to go after some grant funding, and many of those want a "financial review" or an audit by a CPA. So that's what we really need - a CPA who after they've recovered from tax season, will review our 2016 finances. Those finances are being completed by a bookkeeper, who also is donating her time, so they should be in pretty good shape.

If you care to do a full audit that's fine, but the revenues are only about $10,000 or so so maybe we save that for 2017? We're flexible on this so let's talk.

We'd prefer someone who has some experience with nonprofit accounting / finances. Ad perhaps if you're willing could help us fill out our Form 990 as well. (That will be the icing on the cake - yum!)

Mission Statement

Mint Artists Guild helps to transform aspiring Detroit youth artists through education, exceptional engagement and experience, resulting in earning opportunities, skill-building, exposure, and mentoring. Mint launches creative careers and lasting connections. Mint also infuses the community with art and creative experiences, enhancing a collaborative, healthy and generous culture.

Description

Mint works with artists ages 13 to 23 on entrepreneurial, career and life skills, and gives them opportunities to sell their creative work. A summer jobs program, business workshops and online educational and informational resources are offered to young visual artists. In 2020, we launched the Metro Detroit Youth Arts Competition, a creative activity kit giveaway (of 5,500 kits) and in 2021, we launched leadership development training. This year, we are working on an alumni engagement program, adding creative jobs to our website and so much more. We need your help and support to continue our growth!
