Be a part of the Urban Garden Party at the Mattress Factory Museum! The Mattress Factory is celebrating 40 years of site-specific art. The Urban Garden Party is the Mattress Factory's annual, signature fundraiser event with food and drink from 40 vendors, a silent art auction, performances, and DJs. It transcends the boundaries of age and economics to bring together a colorful crowd that sets this fundraiser apart from any other. All proceeds benefit the Mattress Factory's artistic programs, exhibitions and education outreach.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
Volunteers must be 21+, have volunteered one 2-hour gallery attending shift in the museum prior to the Urband Garden Party and attend one training session in an evening the week of June 5th.
The night of the party, volunteers will be assigned a 3 hour shift between 5pm and 11:30pm on Friday, June 16th, 2017. Volunteers at the Urban Garden Party have free access to the event when off-shift. Please email volunteer@mattress.org for more info.
This year, as a new requirement, if you have not volunteered at the museum within the year, you will be required to pick up a 2-hour shift before you can volunteer and attend the party this year.

The Mattress Factory is a research and development lab for artists. As a museum of contemporary art, it commissions new site-specific works, presents them to the widest possible audience, and maintains selected individual installations in a growing-and distinctive-permanent collection. The Mattress Factory's physical and organizational environments have grown out of and in response to a central focus on the process of creativity.
Description
The Mattress Factory is an internationally renowned museum of site-specific installation art. Artists are selected to live at the Mattress Factory for 4-6 weeks, and receive complete support, including a stipend, payment for all materials, help with the labor involved in building an installation, etc. Artists create environments based around the characteristics of the space they are given, the history of the city, or whatever occurs to them. Installations are site-specific.
