A current or retired building contractor is needed to serve on the Facilities Committee of the 1City Academy Christian Schools (1City).

1City will serve students in grades 5 to 12 in New York and New Jersey. Although the committee serves as a function of our Board of Directors, its members are not members of the Board. Church affiliation or membership is not required for this opportunity.

The Facilities Committee will be responsible for overseeing the initial search and purchase/rental of school facilities in New York and New Jersey and will also oversee appropriate major renovations and other facilities projects, making recommendations as appropriate. The Committee will ensure that both school facilities meet or exceed all applicable local, city, state and federal requirements.

The Committee will be convened primarily via conference call and its members will be invited to attend a Joint Commitee meeting in New York City on June 15th (candidates can also participate in this meeting by conference call). The meeting will be held in the Chelsea/Penn Station area of Manhattan. We anticipate that most of the work will be done virtually until such time as the Committee feels that we are nearing the rental or purchase of a building.
