Senior Peer Counseling Training

Make a positive difference in the life of an older adult as a Senior Peer Counselor. Senior Peer Counseling is a one-on-one and group service provided by trained volunteers in San Mateo County. As a volunteer you receive FREE training and professional support, while you offer confidential emotional support, encouragement, and understanding for one hour a week to older adults facing challenges such as loneliness, depression, grief, isolation from family & friends, loss and life changes. Support is offered in Cantonese, English, Mandarin, Spanish, Tagalog and to the LGBTQAI+ community.

Training starts: In English March 30, 2021- April 28, 2021 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9:30am - 12 :30pm.

The Senior Peer Counseling Program is a one-on-one and group service provided by trained volunteers who offer confidential emotional support, guidance and empathy to older adults facing challenges such as loneliness, depression, grief, isolation from family and friends and life changes

Peer counselors develop a special bond of trust with older adults who share similar age, experience, values, wisdom and/or culture. Peer Counseling is available in English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Filipino and to the LGBTQAI+ community.
