Hospice volunteer

Hospice patients, many of them veterans, and their families in New Hudson need your help. Be the one who makes a difference by visiting them, talking with them and listening to their stories. ProMedica Hospice will train you and walk every step of the volunteer journey with you.

Volunteers must be at least 18-years-old to visit patients. ProMedica requires all volunteers to get the annual flu shot. Every volunteer, while visiting patients, must wear the surgical mask ProMedica provides. Those who do not have the COVID vaccine must wear an N95 mask and face shield (provided by ProMedica for free) and get COVID tested twice weekly. Volunteers must complete two TB skin tests (available for free in the ProMedica Ann Arbor office), a drug screening and a fingerprint background check (all paid for by ProMedica). We provides extensive training to ensure volunteers are fully prepared for their work.

About ProMedica Hospice

Location:

1390 Eisenhower Place, Ann Arbor, MI 48108, US

Mission Statement

ProMedica Hospice provides quality care to patients with a limited life expectancy, as well as support to their families and caregivers. Formerly known as Heartland Hospice, ProMedica Hospice is a nonprofit organization. We enhance the quality of life of those we serve through palliative and specialized supportive care designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patients and caregivers. Hospice care is provided by using an interdisciplinary approach in delivering care to patients--either in their own homes or extended care facilities--while working cooperatively with other health care providers and other community resources. ProMedica Hospice strives to provide care to all who are eligible and need hospice care irrespective of ability to pay.

Description

ProMedica Hospice serves patients in Washtenaw, Livingston, Wayne, Oakland, Jackson and Ingham Counties in Michigan. ProMedica is a non-profit organization.

Hospice supports, cares for and comforts patients in the final stages of life, as well helping as their families. ProMedica serves patients wherever they call home, whether it is a private home or a nursing home or another facility.
