Mission Statement

The National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) is a human relations organization that promotes inclusion and acceptance by providing education and advocacy while building communities that are respectful and just for all. Celebrating the diversity of races, religions, cultures, genders, abilities, and sexual orientations.

Description

NCCJ's programming revolves around the principle that what is learned, can be unlearned. We are born without bias and prejudice. However, it is learned in unconscious ways and no one is immune. NCCJ's programs help youth unlearn these implicit social biases. Youth are given the tools to be critical thinkers and build relationships across barriers.

NCCJ's youth educational programs begin with NCCJ Bridges, a two-day prejudice reduction program that helps middle and high school students understand the origins and effects of prejudice, confront their own prejudicial beliefs, and recognize the harmful effects of stereotypes.

NCCJ ANYTOWN continues the process with a yearlong program that begins with a 6-day camp held twice a year in August and October. NCCJ ANYTOWN brings together a diverse group of students to examine the many areas of social justice and learn about the many "isms" present in our society: racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, hetersexism, classism, and ableism. Students learn practical and communicative skills needed to address and eliminate discrimination and become effective global leaders.

NCCJ's adult programs focus on transforming communities to make then more just and inclusive for all. NCCJ leads community development programming, inter-religious programming and workplace diversity training.
