Saturday Academy Special Events Volunteer-Intel Kids Day

Position Summary: We are looking for volunteers to help at Intel Kids Day. Volunteers would help Saturday Academy's staff facilitate STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) activities at the Intel Kids Day at Intel. Kids day will be on June 28 th, we can work with you to find a shift that best fits your schedule on this particular day. You do not have to commit to the whole day you can do a morning shift or an afternoon shift.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend Intel Kids Day on behalf of Saturday Academy
  • Oversee hands-on activities for kids
  • have fun!

Qualifications:

  • Able to attend Intel Kids day
  • Positive attitude
  • comfortable interacting with Kids
  • Passion for inspiring students
  • Must be 16 years of age

Saturday Academy strives to engage all motivated young people, including those from under-represented communities, in hands-on, in-depth learning by connecting them to community experts as educators and mentors.

Description

The mission of Saturday Academy is to engage children through in-depth learning so they may become life-long learners. We provide hands-on classes and camps, afterschool programs, accelerated learning programs for talented and gifted students, and a high school apprenticeship program in science and engineering (ASE). Since it was founded in 1983, SA has served over 165,000 students and currently serves approximately 6,000 students each year. SA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization affiliated with the University of Portland (UP). Instructors need to be experts in their fields so that children see adults as guides to learning and careers.
