Junior Achievement

The success of Junior Achievement programs depends on the efforts of business and community volunteers. Since its founding in 1919, JA volunteers have contributed to the business and economics education of young people throughout the world. Volunteers present hands-on activities that teach financial literacy , entrepreneurship , and work readiness . Volunteers partner with an area classroom to implement JA curriculum. Volunteers attend an orientation session to be come familiar with JA materials. The volunteer then visits the classroom once per week for 5-7 weeks. Each weekly session is about 30 to 60 minutes.

Mission Statement

Junior Achievement of Greater St. Louis, Inc. will ensure that every child in the St. Louis area has a fundamental understanding of the free enterprise system.

Description

Since 1943, Junior Achievement of Greater St. Louis has been providing economic education to students throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan and surrounding areas. Junior Achievement provides hands-on activities that supplement and reinforce the regular classroom curriculum. Junior Achievement's programs empower students by inspiring and preparing them to succeed in a global economy.

Junior Achievement offers vital sequential learning programs to grades K-12 taught in their school classrooms by trained volunteers, like yourself, from the local community. These volunteers serve as role models to the kids, teaching them how to succeed in life through a quality education and responsible personal finance.

The Junior Achievement offices are located at the Dennis & Judy Jones Free Enterprise Center in Chesterfield Valley. Dedicated in May of 2004, The Center also houses JA's two Capstone Programs for grades 5-6 and 8-12. Here, students learn in an interactive environment, developing a comprehensive understanding of how the free enterprise system works.
