The kittens are coming! And we are seeking caring foster homes to help save lives!
What is fostering?
Fostering is where you open your home (or just a spare bedroom) to a cat or cats in need of a place to stay until we can find them a forever family. We provide any necessary medical care (including spay/ neuter and vaccinations) and you provide the love!
At this time of year, we are asked to take in many orphan kittens - but we are limited on how many we can help by the number of foster homes we have available. We are also looking for foster placements for adult cats and moms with babies. The more help we have, the more lives we can save.
Depending on what you feel prepared to handle, these cats may have medical or behavioral issues that you (with our support) will help to treat. We usually also have healthy, adoptable cats needing foster homes too - so don’t worry if you’re not comfortable with medical care.
How do we find homes?
We hold weekly adoption events across the Tucson area where you can bring your foster cat(s) for people to meet. We post on popular pet sites, such as Petfinder and Adopt A Pet, we have our own website and facebook pages, and we adopt out many cats to repeat adopters and through word-of-mouth. While we cannot guarantee how long it will take for your foster pet to find a home, we do have a strong adoption record. We ask that once you commit to fostering a cat that you honor that commitment until adoption - please recognize that we won’t instantly have a new place to move the cat if you change your mind - so we ask you to consider carefully whether fostering is for you (and your family).
It would be hard to let them go!
Many people tell us they could never foster because it would be too hard to let them go. It is hard - but it’s easier knowing that you genuinely saved a life and sent them on to the rest of their happily-ever -after. And there’s always a new cat or kitten who will need you.
We’re sure you have many questions before you make your decision. Please contact us to find out more!
*** You don’t have to commit to forever, you just have to commit to one cat ***
