Volunteers are a valuable asset to the library, and an integral part of the library's service to the community. You will acquire new skills and meet new people as you help connect the community to library services and programs.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and are selected based upon qualifications, the needs of the library at any given time, and the willingness of the applicant to perform duties as needed by the library.

Mission Statement

The Wichita Falls Public Library will act as a public information center for all citizens of Wichita Falls.To the extent that funding is available, acquisition and organization of quality and relevant print and nonĀ­print materials and services, either from our collections or through other resources, will address educational, informational, recreational, and cultural needs.


The Wichita Falls Public Library building is located in downtown Wichita Falls and will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2018. The current library building is a 1998 renovation of the City's Activity Center, and was formerly known as the Kemp Public Library when housed in what is now the Kemp Center for the Arts. The library is owned and governed by the City of Wichita Falls.
