After-School All-Stars (ASAS), is a national non-profit organization which provides free, daily afterschool programs to nearly 75,000 students from New York to Hawaii.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Hoop Heroes mentor! Hoop Heroes is a free intensive youth leadership and mentoring program which responds to the need for students to have more mentor opportunities. Hoop Heroes leverages the game of basketball to provide middle-school participants with caring mentors and exposure to different educational and career paths. During the camp, volunteers mentor participants one-on-one and educate them about high school, college and career opportunities.

This camp will take place at Stuart-Hobson Middle School, right near Union Station. The address is 410 E Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002.

Hoop Heroes Schedule April 19th and 20th
4:30pm to 5:00pm - Campers arrive and register
5:00pm to 6:00pm - Leadership theme introduction, icebreakers and basketball drills
6:00pm - Mentors arrive after work
6:00pm to 6:30pm - Dinner for mentors and campers
6:30pm to 7:00 pm- Guest speaker
7:00pm to 9:00pm - Basketball games and classroom leadership activities
9:00pm to 9:15pm - Wrap-up and go home

We will be hosting weekly Hoop Heroes meet ups so that we can continue to grow the mentor relationships between volunteers and students. The meet ups with take place at Stuart-Hobson Middle School every Thursday evening fromApril 27th - May 25th from 6:00 - 8:00pm.
Hoop Heroes mentors will...
* Be college educated and over 21
* Enjoy playing basketball and able to work in a team/group environment
* Be committed to developing a mentoring relationship with a camper * Be able to commit to the majority of the sessions
