Spring Reins of Life has just relocated!
We are very excited about this new facility home because it will provide the needed privacy and dedicated space for our work and mission to grow (horses helping veteran & youth trauma survivors find hope)...
However, there are some needed repairs and maintenance projects that require skilled volunteers to help us complete. Time and expertise we are asking to be donated, supplies and equipment needed to complete will be provided.
Plumber:
- There are 2 sinks inside the barn (mens bathroom and feed room) that do not work. We need help to get them running again (both hot and cold water)
- Checking water lines in the horses wash stall (bathing - both for their care but also for sessions when we utilize paint or chalk - it is sometimes part of the therapy to wash it off!)
- Water line installed (via hose is fine) to co-founder's camper/trailer
- Checking on washing machine water supply (hookup has not been used in a while
Carpenter:
- SRoL needs some cabinetry (with doors) to be constructed out of 2x4's and plywood. Supplies will be provided (need help to know dimensions and lumber needed). These cabinets will store fundraising equipment and supplies as well as session equipment for clients which must be protected and kept clean (also a mice deterrent)
- Wooden cubby boxes out of plywood (this will hold our clients session equipment and supplies that needs to be neat but visible)

Spring Reins of Life (Horses, Humans & Healing)'s MISSION is to provide a safe, healing and empowered path to peace, positive growth and self-guided recovery with the assistance of Horses as our guides for trauma survivors who do not want to, refuse to, or simply cannot "talk about it". We serve combat veterans, at risk teens & young bereaved children in New Jersey.
Description
Spring Reins of Life (SRoL) is a non-profit 501c3 organization. We are an EAGALA Model program offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) which incorporates the use of horses for therapeutic intervention toward promoting emotional growth and healing. We do not offer any riding or mounted work in our program. While there are many benefits to horseback riding, the EAGALA model is a solution focused base that enhances the emotional benefits of behavioral rehearsal and experiential component that is displayed when observing the horses in free will interacting with clients. The core populations that we serve are combat veterans, at risk/high risk teens & young children with grief.
Animal assisted therapy with horses combines the positive emotional effects gained from the human/horse bond with opportunities to challenge and explore one's thoughts and internal struggles during activities with an equine partner. It is a therapeutic intervention that defeats the stigma often associated with traditional counseling, but more importantly, it is an intervention that works.
