This is a very exciting project for us at BFOK School. Approx. 50% of the local population is undernouished due to a lack of protein. Besides the fact that Rabbit is 95% protein and loaded with the proper Amino Acids needed for both Children and Adults to function properly, these wonderful animals are realtively easy to raise and low maintenance which makes this project perfect for the School and for the Children.

We have a perfect area designated that was years ago used to raise Pigs which probably was not trhe best choice in terms of meat conversion. The area will allow us to raise easily 10 starter Rabitts and can facilitate approx. 50 a month to grow out.

Construction of the cages will be relatively easy and we will use local materials such as wooden support frames to keep material costs down to a minimum. Cage wire will be assembled and nst boxes will be constructed. We will need a little bit of cement to repair two sections of the existing structure.

This will be a fun project for anyone who is involved and will make a profound impact on the nutritional needs of the School and even the local familes. In addition, this Rabittry will be a teaching aid for a supplemental curriculum we are creating to be added to thewir existing studies.
