Our programs and initiatives leverage the power of individual and community-wide daily actions to transform the way we interact with each other and the world around us.
We have an immediate volunteer opportunity for a solid Auction FundraiserCoordinator dedicated to creating and maintaining sustainable communities. Working with staff and other volunteers, this volunteer will coordinate the silent auction fundraiser at Sustainable Contra Costa's annual prestigious Leadership in Sustainability Awards Gala . The Auction Coordinator will oversee and work with our Events Committee team that is acquiring silent auction donations from local businesses. Team members will reach out to them to solicit donations, and the Auction Coordinator will track and follow up with donors, using an online spreadsheet, phone calls and email communications. The coordinator may also pick up some donations. This volunteer will fill a vital supporting role with the organization, enabling SCOCO to operate with a compelling and consistent presence while significantly increasing the awareness of our mission and our organizational capacity.
We are looking for someone who has strong organizational skills, is friendly and enjoys working with a wide variety of people, and ideally someone with a flexible schedule. Previous experience with nonprofit fundraisers is a plus! This volunteer will work remotely on their own computer when not attending planning meetings or providing direct event support. Hours and location are flexible, and they must be comfortable structuring their own time. They may also have an opportunity to do writing, editing and research, as well as education and outreach to the public, if this is of interest.
