Sustainable Contra Costa

Work with a fun and awesome team! Sustainable Contra Costa (SCOCO) invites passionate and dedicated individuals to volunteer to help us further our mission. Learn about sustainability principles and practices while building up your resume, collaborating with a fabulous team, making valuable contacts, and getting hands on experience at a cutting edge organization! Sustainable Contra Costa is a nonprofit that educates, connects and inspires Contra Costa individuals and organizations to embrace a sustainable lifestyle. We are a community of citizens, educators, innovators, and organizations working together to create ecologically sustainable, economically vibrant, and socially just communities for all. Our work is based on the 10 principles of One Planet Living and we are committed to helping achieve the global Sustainable Development Goals through local actions in the greater Contra Costa region. Our programs and initiatives leverage the power of individual and community-wide daily actions to transform the way we interact with each other and the world around us.

We have an immediate volunteer opportunity for a solid Auction FundraiserCoordinator dedicated to creating and maintaining sustainable communities. Working with staff and other volunteers, this volunteer will coordinate the silent auction fundraiser at Sustainable Contra Costa's annual prestigious Leadership in Sustainability Awards Gala in September, 2018, as well as the live auction at our Farm-To-Table Dinner fundraiser on the evening of Saturday, May 19th, 2018: Party with a Purpose: A Feast from our Local Farms in celebration of Sustainable Contra Costa’s 10th Anniversary. This will be the first ever fundraiser party for SCOCO, celebrating 10 years of resilience-building community action and connection. It will feature the Last Minute Band playing classic Soul and R&B, and take place under the redwoods at the Old Yellow House, an historic 1890s Orinda building which has been transformed into a model sustainable, zero energy home.

The Auction Coordinator will oversee and work with Auction Committee Team Members to acquire auction donations from local businesses. The committee will solicit donations and the Auction Coordinator will track and follow up with donors, using an online spreadsheet, phone calls and email communications. The coordinator may also pick up some donations. This volunteer will fill a vital supporting role with the organization, enabling SCOCO to operate with a compelling and consistent presence while significantly increasing the awareness of our mission and our organizational capacity.
