MBIC New Brand

Join the MBIC Clubhouse team as a Program Volunteer and play a pivotal role in the day-to-day empowerment and support of our members. Originally founded to support individuals recovering from brain injuries and strokes, MBIC Clubhouse has broadened its mission to encompass a wide range of cognitive challenges. Today, we offer a dynamic, community-based setting not only for those recovering from brain injuries but also for the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and anyone experiencing cognitive decline due to conditions such as Alzheimer's, dementia, or mental health issues. Our unique Clubhouse model is built on the foundation that work and social interaction are healing, providing both a sense of purpose and a platform for skill development.

About the Clubhouse Program

The heart of our Clubhouse lies in its program areas and Work Units, designed to engage members in meaningful activities that foster cognitive, physical, and emotional growth. Our units include:

  • Business Unit: Members participate in administrative tasks, learning valuable organizational skills.
  • Kitchen Unit: Culinary activities provide members with both life and teamwork skills.
  • Education & Employment Unit: Focused on enhancing educational pathways and employment opportunities for members.
  • Community Outings and Health & Wellness Programs: Offer members the chance to engage with the wider community and focus on physical wellbeing.

The purpose of the Clubhouse is multifaceted: while some members are here to socialize, have fun, and enjoy a supportive community, others are focused on improving specific skill sets and gaining independence. Our programs are designed to cater to this diverse range of needs, ensuring every member feels valued and supported.

Volunteer Role and Impact

As a Program Volunteer, your role will be as dynamic as our members and their interests. You might find yourself:

  • Assisting members in completing tasks within various Work Units.
  • Supporting staff in engaging members through activities and group sessions.
  • Participating alongside members in educational classes, recreational activities, or community outings.

Your interactions can significantly enhance the Clubhouse experience for our members, providing them with the encouragement and assistance they need to engage fully in the program. Whether it's through sharing a skill, offering companionship, or simply being there to support their daily tasks, your contribution will foster a nurturing and empowering environment.

Who We Are Looking For

This opportunity is perfect for individuals who:

  • Enjoy engaging with people at all levels of ability and cognition.
  • Are adaptable and can thrive in a dynamic, activity-filled environment.
  • Have a compassionate, patient, and supportive demeanor.
