Overview

The Trustees is looking for an enthusiastic person to work with visitors during public events at Appleton Farms, the country’s oldest continuously operating farm. From April to December Appleton Farms hosts a variety of public programs, including Easter Egg-cellent Quest, Father’s Day Bluegrass BBQ’s, seasonal festivals including Family Farm Day and The Farm Nisse. Because these programs attract numerous visitors, public program assistants play a vital role in providing a quality visitor experience.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities vary depending on the event but may require:

  • Greeting and directing visitors, selling tickets and/or merchandise, serving refreshments, and acting as a greeter
  • Working independently or together with other volunteers and staff
  • Imparting information about The Trustees and Appleton Farms
Qualifications
  • Interest in talking to and working with the public
  • Ability to calculate correct change for simple transactions
  • Friendly and polite demeanor
  • Comfort in citing rules for games and activities

Time Commitment Needed
2-5 hours per event. Assistants sign up for events and shifts that fit their interests and schedules.
