CourseWorld.org, an education nonprofit (501(c)(3)), is looking for talented volunteer web developers to join a small team of fellow pro-bono (unpaid) developers to help transform our unique online video library of curated academic lectures.

Volunteering your time, your expertise and your passion for coding provides you a platform to further expand your credentials and build your skills. Spending time with us increases your marketability while helping an awesome cause which empowers users around the world to build on their passions.

CourseWorld is built on the PHP framework -- CodeIgniter version 2.1.3, stored on a private GitHub repository with a JIRA board set up to manage tickets. These are mainstream technologies to enhance your credentials and hone your skill set.

CourseWorld.org is the web’s largest library of (50,000+) curated YouTube lectures in the arts and humanities. (Learn more at http://www.courseworld.org/about.) Our website has a fairly "old-fashioned" look and feel. The code base has challenges and we have a number of features and enhancements we want to implement.

Our nonprofit initiative is fully volunteer-run; no one (CEO included) is compensated in any way. As background, volunteers typically commit between 5-10 hours per week for a minimum of 4 months.

Beyond the intangible benefits (and a seat on our Global Advisory Board, if desired), such an arrangement has the possibility of significant PR/marketing gains for you or your firm - aligning you with the online education revolution (VentureBeat called us the "Hulu for the Humanities") and your commitment to online education and social entrepreneurship.

Together, let's make it possible for anyone in the world to access a quality liberal arts education for free. To discuss opportunities for getting involved, please email justin [at] courseworld.org
