Mission Statement
To collect, teach and preserve the history of the wild blueberry industry using current technology and to seek to differentiate the wild low bush blueberry and its importance to our local agriculture community as well as its economic impact in Maine.
Description
Our museum hopes to help small growers continue through teaching about the "Wild Difference" through its natural history of the glaciers bringing them as a gift to this rare geology, to the native tribes annual pigrimage, to the foodscience and the health benfits.
We are growers of more than 60 years and we fear for the industry as economists are predicting a loss of 1000 farms by 2021. These same historic small farms are positioned to change our food system if allowed to survive. We are campaigning now with Take The Wild Pledge.org in hopes to bring awareness to this dire prediction and to to begin the process of interviewing the gowers and their stories. We are seekiing help with the interviews and the surrounding technology.
