Alexander Leigh Center for Autism (ALCA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, full day, year-round Therapeutic Day School approved by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The therapeutic day school is for children 3-21 years old with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), OHI, multiple disabilities, developmental delay and/or intellectual disability. Our student population primarily comes from local public school districts that require a more supported placement to meet students’ needs. ALCA is based in Crystal Lake, IL. Students living in the following counties attend the school: Cook, DuPage, Lake, Kane, McHenry, and Will.

We are expanding our outdoor space to add donated greenhouses, raised beds, create a large playground area to accommodate our growing school population, and to create a sensory garden. We are looking for an individual or group of professionals to help design the space. The students at ALCA participate in a gardening program and as part of the program provide vegetables to local farm to table restaurants for their use.
